Dickinson & Morris of Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, has been baking and delivering pork pies since 1851 and are the oldest remaining bakers of authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies in the town centre. In 1992, after fire devastated their building in the heart of Melton, Samworth Brothers in conjunction with English Heritage extensively refurbished Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, reopening the shop (which includes a demonstration and heritage area) in the October. In 1996, following a huge demand for Dickinson & Morris pork pies nationwide, they were launched into leading high street retailers, and have since grown further in popularity. In 2008, the EU granted PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status to Melton Mowbray Pork Pies, the registration defines how and where authentic Melton Mowbray Pork Pies are made and protects the heritage of the product. www.porkpie.co.uk
